Hop extracts standardized with hot water extract or glucose syrup tend to be more heterogeneous than pure bitter extracts due to the production process. In addition, extracts consisting of two substances may separate during prolonged storage as a result of the differences in their densities, especially if the moisture content is high or if the extract is stored relatively high temperatures. For this reason, depending upon the type of product and the number of containers,one to three randomly selected samples should be taken from their original containers and analyzed.
