Dr. Annika Lagemann – New Member of MEBAK®

Annika Lagemann was born in 1978 in Siegburg, Germany. From 1998 to 2003 she studied food chemistry at the University of Bonn. After finishing her university studies, she completed her academic education with a practical legal training from 2004 to 2005 at the CVUA (official community laboratory for chemical and veterinary analysis) in Münster to obtain the occupational title ‘state-certified food chemist’. The training also involved periods at the district veterinary and food supervisory office of Solingen and at the company LANGNESE-IGLO GmbH in Reken. Subsequently she became a research assistant in the working group of Prof. Dr. Thomas Hofmann at the Institute of Food Chemistry at the University of Münster. In 2007, Annika Lagemann changed to the Institute of Food Chemistry and Molecular Sensory Science at the Technical University München, where her scientific work still mainly focused on the activity guided localization and identification of key sensory compounds in spinach and the potential of vegetables factions to inhibit the angiotensin-converting enzyme. Since 2010, Mrs. Lagemann been working for the Bitburger Brewing company as a member of the division "technology and quality control". She has established internal analyses of contaminants and pesticide residues using LC-MS and modified methods for the analytical support of technical issues for example degradation products of bitter compounds. In 2010, she successfully completed her dissertation with the title “Molecular Characterization of Taste Compounds and ACE-Inhibitors in Spinach (Spinaciaoleracea) and Other Leafy Vegetables”. Since 2012 she has been managing the central laboratory of the Bitburger Brewing company, which is responsible for special analyses within the whole Bitburger Brewing group. In this role, she coordinates the company-wide residue monitoring, assists the purchasing division with the selection of suppliers and raw materials and serves as the primary contact for questions concerning legal issues and declarations as they apply to foods. Annika Lagemann is a member of the scientific committee of the Research Association of the German Food Industry (FEI).
